TEXAS NARCOTIC OFFICERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:

TNOA conducts a Scholarship Awards Program each year in which scholarships in varying amounts are awarded to children and grandchildren of active TNOA Members in good standing for the past three (3) consecutive years. Nominees for these scholarships must be graduating seniors. Scholarships will be awarded to individuals based on such factors as academic achievement, school and community involvement, and special achievements.
 
Nominations should include such information as:
 
  • personal information
  • name and date of birth of nominee
  • name and occupation of parent/grandparent
  • name of high school, graduation date, rank in class and grade point average
  • clubs and involvement in school and community activities
  • special achievements
  • honors and awards
  • letters of recommendation from school or government officials

AWARDS:

Each year at the TNOA Annual Training Conference we honor many of our members with the TNOA OFFICER OF THE YEAR AWARDS. TNOA will accept from any interested person nomination of any TNOA Member to be recognized for outstanding accomplishments during the past year in the area of drug enforcement in each of the following categories:
 
NARCOTIC OFFICER OF THE YEAR:  There will be one Narcotic Officer of the Year nominated by each region. One of these officers will be recognized as Narcotic Officer of the Year. The remaining four (4) officers will be recognized as Region Narcotic Officers of the Year at the annual conference.
 
NARCOTIC UNIT OF THE YEAR:  There will be one Narcotic Unit of the Year nominated by each region, and one of these units will be recognized as the Narcotic Unit of the Year at the annual conference.  At least one member of the unit must be a TNOA member.
 
NON-NARCOTIC OFFICER OF THE YEAR:  There will be one Non-Narcotic Officer of the Year nominated by each region, and one of these officers will be recognized as the Non-Narcotic Officer of the Year at the annual conference.
 
SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR:  There will be one Supervisor of the Year: nominated by each region, and one of these officers will be recognized as the Supervisor of the Year at the annual conference.
 
PROSECUTOR OF THE YEAR:  There will be one Prosecutor of the Year nominated by each region, and one of these prosecutors will be recognized as the Prosecutor of the Year at the annual conference. (Membership in TNOA is not a requirement for this Award).
 
NARCOTIC DETECTOR DOG TEAM OF THE YEAR:   There will be one Narcotic Detector Dog Team of the Year nominated by each region, and one of these detector dog teams will be recognized at the annual conference.
 
Nominees must have been a member of TNOA prior to January 1, 2019 to be eligible for nomination.
 
All nominations should be brief and concise.  No more than five typed pages, if possible, is recommended.  One page should be a cover sheet listing the following:
  • Nomination for (name the Position)
  • Name of TNOA Member being nominated
  • Agency, agency address and phone number of TNOA Member being nominated
  • Name of person making the nomination
  • Agency, agency address and phone number of person making nomination
  • Date of submission of nomination
  • Date nomination sent 
PAGE TWO SHOULD CONTAIN SUCH INFORMATION AS:
  • Person or Unit Name and Agency
  • Family
  • Education
  • Professional achievements
  • Outstanding activities
  • List the names and addresses of other persons wishing to recommend this person for the award.
THE NEXT PAGE SHOULD:
Set out the specific accomplishments of the nominee in chronological order for the year preceding the upcoming conference from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018 (all arrests and seizures that occurred during this time frame). 

THE ABOVE FORMAT SHOULD BE FOLLOWED FOR CONSIDERATION.

The nominations for the above positions must be received by TNOA Executive Director Corky Schalchlin, P.O. Box 1268, Prosper, Texas 75078 or info@tnoa.org, no later than May 31, 2019. No exceptions will be allowed. Once received, the Executive Director will review to make sure each nomination is valid. Once determined valid, the Executive Director will forward the nominations to the TNOA President who will have an Awards Committee to determine the Regional and State winners.
